Dear Mayor Parker and Members of the City Council,

On behalf of the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth’s more than 700 members, I am writing to share our perspective on the qualifications and experience of Jay Chapa as he is considered for the role of Fort Worth’s next City Manager.

Jay has a deep understanding of Fort Worth’s character and the unique needs of its neighborhoods and citizens.  He also brings extensive experience in public service that makes him a highly capable candidate for this important position. Over two decades in city government, he has demonstrated a thorough grasp of the inner workings of City Hall, providing steady leadership in key roles such as Deputy City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Jay’s understanding of Fort Worth’s civic and business communities and his experience navigating complex challenges allow him to approach decision-making with a thoughtful and deliberate perspective. His ability to balance the priorities of development, public service, and long-term city planning is well-documented and respected by citizens, city staff and leaders across the city and our region.

As someone who knows Fort Worth intimately—its opportunities, challenges, and vision for the future—Jay’s qualifications and experience speak to his readiness to contribute meaningfully to the city’s continued success.

We are excited to work with a leader who can continue Fort Worth’s positive direction with no learning curve, transitioning a complex role without delay.  Jay knows this community, businesses and organizations of Fort Worth.

Thank you for your consideration and for your ongoing dedication to the City of Fort Worth.

Sincerely,

Travis Clegg, P.E.

Chairman, Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth
